PRP & PRF Therapy:
The Science of
Your Own Biology

What if the most powerful ingredient for skin renewal wasn't in a vial from a lab — but already inside you? PRP and PRF therapy don't introduce anything foreign to your body. They take what's already there and put it to work with precision.

Platelet-Rich Plasma and Platelet-Rich Fibrin have quietly become two of the most talked-about treatments in aesthetic medicine — not because of clever marketing, but because the results are genuinely compelling. At Hairchitect Med Spa, PRP and PRF sit at the core of our treatment philosophy. We asked Dr. Gleb Gendel and Nurse Lupe Campos to break it all down — what it is, how it works, who it's for, and why it matters.

What Are PRP and PRF — Really?

Both treatments begin the same way: a small draw of your own blood, spun in a centrifuge to separate its components. What's collected is a concentration of platelets — the cells your body naturally deploys when tissue needs repair. Those platelets release growth factors that signal the skin to regenerate, produce collagen, and heal.

PRF — the newer evolution — is processed at a lower spin speed, preserving more growth factors and creating a fibrin matrix that releases those factors slowly over time. Think of PRP as a sprint and PRF as a sustained release. Both are powerful. The right choice depends on your skin, your goals, and the area being treated.

Dr. Gleb Gendel, DO — Physician & Medical Director

"The reason I believe in PRP and PRF so deeply is that we're not overriding the body — we're amplifying it. Your platelets already know how to repair tissue. We're just concentrating that intelligence and directing it precisely where it needs to go. There's an elegance to that which I find compelling both scientifically and philosophically."

"PRF in particular has been a meaningful step forward. The fibrin matrix acts like a scaffold — it holds the growth factors in place and releases them gradually over days and weeks. The results are more natural, more progressive, and frankly more durable than what we saw with earlier PRP protocols."

What Does It Actually Treat?

PRP and PRF are remarkably versatile. At Hairchitect, we use them for facial skin rejuvenation — improving texture, tone, and firmness — as well as under-eye hollowing, hair loss and scalp health, and as a complement to other treatments like microneedling and laser. The common thread is regeneration: wherever the body needs to rebuild, these therapies help.

Nurse Lupe Campos, RN — Aesthetic Nurse

"What I love about PRP and PRF is how honest the results are. There's no puffiness, no dramatic change overnight — you're watching your own skin improve from within. Patients come back three or four weeks after a session and say their skin just looks different. Clearer. More alive. That's the growth factors doing their work."

"I also love pairing it with microneedling. The channels created by the needles allow the PRF to penetrate much deeper than topical application would allow. It's one of my favorite combination protocols — the synergy between the two treatments is really something."

Patients Who've Felt the Difference

Numbers tell part of the story. But the patients who've been through it — some for years — tell it better.

"I started PRP after I noticed my skin had lost that — I don't know how to describe it — that bounce. The firmness it used to have. Nurse Lupe was very clear with me that this wasn't a quick fix, that I'd need patience. She was right. By the second session, I started noticing the texture changing. By the third, my husband asked if I'd done something different. Three years in, I do two sessions a year and my skin has genuinely reversed some of what I thought was just inevitable. It feels like mine again."

"We're not overriding the body — we're amplifying it."

"I came in initially for hair thinning — that's what pushed me to finally book. Dr. Gendel walked me through everything in detail. He explained the difference between PRP and PRF, why he recommended PRF for my situation, what the protocol would look like. I didn't feel like a patient walking into a procedure — I felt like someone making an informed decision with a doctor who genuinely cared about the outcome. Six months later, the density improvement was real. I've since added facial PRF too. The fact that it's my own biology doing the work — that matters to me."

Is It Right for You?

PRP and PRF are suitable for most adults looking to improve skin quality, address early signs of aging, or support hair health. Because the treatment uses your own blood, the risk profile is exceptionally low — there's no foreign substance, no allergic reaction risk, and minimal downtime.

That said, the best outcomes come from a proper assessment. Factors like your baseline skin health, the specific concerns you want to address, and whether a combination protocol makes sense — these all shape the recommendation. It's exactly the kind of conversation Dr. Gendel and Nurse Lupe have at every new patient consultation.

Dr. Gendel on Who Benefits Most

"I recommend PRP and PRF to a wide range of patients — from someone in their early thirties who wants to get ahead of collagen loss, to someone in their fifties looking to restore what's already changed. The biology works at every stage. What changes is the protocol, the frequency, and what we combine it with. That's where the physician's role matters — knowing how to tailor the approach to the individual, not the age group."

PRP and PRF aren't a trend. They're a return to something fundamental — the idea that the most intelligent healing system available is the one your body already has. Our role is simply to direct it with skill, precision, and genuine care.
